“I joined SK as I realised that the image of university that is portrayed by widening participation programs is starkly different to reality based on my experiences of university. I wanted to change this because whilst challenging, university offers vast opportunities. It's important to make it accessible to all.
Sharing our own experience which are often unrepresented at university, connect us with others and allows us to build a sense of belonging and safety at university and beyond. This is something that’s facilitated by Social Knowbility."
“Listening to the speakers of two of Social Knowbility's events, I felt less isolated in my struggles as a first generation student and as a student who struggles with anxiety.
The fact that participating in this network helped me personally led me to develop the desire to help others who have experienced similar struggles by helping to expand the network both in numbers (through Outreach) and quality of its projects (through Research).”
“I joined SK because I resonated with the mission statement to support underrepresented students thrive in higher education by offering support and personal experiences to help them feel seen in higher education institutions.. I’m very passionate about education and research as an outlet that facilitates investigating the importance of accessing Higher Education and the impact this has on young people’s futures. I hope to bring my transferable skills within education to the Social Knowbility team as well as learning new skills alongside like-minded individuals fighting for change”
